Lining one side of the Giraldo Square are the medieval stone arches and arcade. They are a great reminder of the history of the square and importance of Evora over the centuries.

The Evora Arcades are well preserved and do remind those in Santiago de Compostela in Spain. Stone used are different but the design is similar

They are an interesting architectural element particularly where they bound Praça do Giraldo. They provide shelter, and contain some nice shops and cafes.
