This museum was ranked as one of the top places to go to if you are visiting Beja. The museum is free and it is pretty cool because beneath the museum are old Roman ruins and it show the layout of a Roman house. The only downside is that everything is written in Portuguese…

The floor displays Roman ruins below--some intersting walls, wells, and arches. The displays show pieces, a couple stone tools dating back to around 1 million years ago! Worth a quick stop.

As you enter you’re handed plastic slippers for your shoes and walk over a glass floor looking down onto the excavations. There are some displays of finds and I found it an enjoyable way of displaying the Roman ruins.
