Leiden offers so much to visitors which makes it a wonderful place to visit, and the Pieterskerk is one Americans must see - on the outside is a huge memorial plaque commemorating the Pilgrims who sailed to the Americas on the Mayflower.

The 'kerk' is spectacular to look at and it is located in one of the nicest and most atmospheric area of Leiden. It is well worth wondering through the narrow streets before or after visiting the 'kerk'.

Great church with very nice organs. Very nice decorated. Great and monumental. It is sad, however, that this is a former church.

Very interesting tour inside the church ( buy the small guide book) encompassing the Pilgrim Fathers and other relevant facts. Nice coffee shop inside with good coffee and stroep waffels- also an interesting walk around the church in the surrounding tiny streets.

We did not go inside, but rode by on our bikes many times. It is a stately presence and helps give Leiden its beautiful character!
