It's free, beautiful, and in the center of the city, what more do you want? Stop by for a few seconds if you're close by. SWAMPED during tourist season.

You step into this “huge backyard“ and all the noise and the many tourists are gone. Beautiful, quiet and with a very interesting history. If you need a break, come here and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

As a die hard for visiting beguinages I was on the one hand surprised that in a city center you had such a large square hidden near the kalverstraat. However except for the chapels, there was little to visit. Therefore I recommend more the beguinages...More

It‘s a lovely quiet place to walk trough and look around. You don‘t need a lot of time because there’s not much to do. It’s just a small time-out :-)

This is a lovely respite from the frenetic pace of the city right outside the walls of the Begijnhof. I was fortunate to attend the English Reformed Church located inside the Begijnhof while visiting Amsterdam on the last Sunday in April, 2018. On Sundays, the...More

An enclosed courtyard dating from the 14th century. See Amsterdam's oldest surviving house (Het Houten Huis) dating from around 1420.

Just off Spui, this is a quiet place with retirement houses, a chapel & a church. Often thronged with tourists so choose your time carefully. To the side of one entrance are 8 plaques worth looking at depicting various themes in including burning hell.

Enjoyed some quiet time here! It is a truly calm and peaceful place in the ever changing, so diverse and very busy Amsterdam City Center.

I believe that it is owned by their religious order. and it functions as a retirement facility for older women of that order. I gather they are slowly passing and there are no replacements.

It's too soon to say exact times for Easter but apparently the High Mass is at 12.15 and is held partly in English. Walking time is approximately 10 minutes from your hotel.
