The downtown/ old town was amazing. Great restaurants, shopping, and more. I enjoyed relaxing at the little coffee shops.

Whenever we have visitors, we take then for a walk through the old town on both sides of the Limmat. Everyone we take, finds the walk interesting and take plenty of photographs!

All these nice old houses, one different to the other, with a lot of bars, restaurants and shops.. Are a good excuse to have a walk through this part of the city.

We deliberately choose this area for our stay due to its old world charm. Every street has something cute and interesting. This place has lots of eating joints, pubs and cafe as well as interesting art galleries and shopping. A must visit

I didn't know much about Zurich but had a vague idea that as it is all about banking it would be all concrete and glass. How wrong I was! It is delightful and charming. The old town has retained its historic qualities whilst not becoming...More

Very pretty. Very clean. Stores are often closed for various official reasons (hard to fathom why). Shopping is not recommended in any case as prices are sky high. Walking is free and delightful. Best bets for food are the supermarkets that abound in this area...More

The most interesting area is the pedestrian zone starting just across the river from the train station. The main Street is narrow winding cobblestone with lots of small shops, small restaurants and boutique hotels. This is also a residential area so you get a good...More

Zurich's old town is neat, tidy and somehow austere. Although without any remarkable places to visit, it is pleasant place to have a stroll or to dine.

Every time I come to Zurich I always enjoy walking through Old Town. It feels safe even at night with lots of restaurants and shops open till late hours. Wear comfortable shoes because the cobblestone streets can be cruel to your feet and ankles.

Hotel Zum Storchen is FANTASTIC if you must have river views. If you don't want to spend quite that much, Hotel Central also has river views and is across the river from the train station. Lastly, Hotel St. Gotthard is great... More
