Worth a visit
May 2021
A very modern and functional new building, ideally located. Permanent exhibitions are free, modest but well presented and quite interesting. temporary ones are expensive and of course of unequal interest. In any case the Museum is worth visiting and we should be grateful to a, relatively, small town to make such investments in culture.

A perfect place to visit. The building itself is a work of art
Apr 2021
This is an excellent gallery and worth the visit for the building alone.
The permanent collection is excellent and the exhibitions are very well curated.
At the moment they are hosting their exhibition on Sculpture Rodin to Bourgeoise and it is outstanding. Whoever put this together deserves a prize.

a brand new museum in the center of the city
Dec 2019
recently inaugurated last October named Platforme 10 this new space will be the new artstique centre of Lausanne including the Museum of modern arts, the Eliysee Mueum of photography and finally the Mudac. the all project is the result of an international architectural of the bureau EBV Estudio Barozzi Veiga from Barelona. The building is very impressive from outside with its 147m. and 22 large but also from inside permitting the presentation of important works of the museum collection but also presenting pieces of local private collection.its consider as a must of he brand museum worldwide, making when this artistic center will be ready as a step in presentation like it was some years ago Bilbao and the Lausanne authority a counting in doubling the number of visitors from 30 to 40.000 a year.

A very old museum in a very new location!
Jan 2020
A beautifully modern space as part of a major update to Lausanne's art spaces. Located just across from the trains station, this new building is the epitome of Swiss elegance in architecture. A soft gray palette overflowing with terrazzo flooring and heaps of fine art organized by theme. A meditative space with a cafe specializing in locally sourced organic foods.

Exciting architecture
Jan 2020 • Solo
The museum just opened and entry is still free until February, so go and visit! It’s exciting to explore the building. The art work is a bit eclectic and I missed a red thread through the exhibition. Didn’t like the temporary exhibition at all, it looked like something created by a class on a school project.

Huge and gleaming
Oct 2019
Not yet finished, but inaugurated early October 2019, the museum is set on railway sidings, and from the windows on the south side you can watch the trains going past. Note that the photo beside the title here does not correspond to the new museum; it is the fountain on the stairway of the building on place Riponne. When complete, Plateforme 10 as it will be called, will also include the MUDAC (decorative arts) and the Photography museum formerly in the Elysée palace. This new museum in what looks like a giant shoe box has huge, white airy spaces and lots (and lots) of stairs (there are lifts, too, but you need to be patient). The present exhibition showcases works (mostly paintings) from the Fine Arts collection with artists such as John Armleder, Ernest Biéler, Steiner, Vallotton, grouped by theme rather than style or chronological order. Café on the ground floor, in stark black and all in straight lines; there is also a good bookshop and a boutique with some very desirable items in a wide range of prices and a small collection of postcards. Documentation is provided in several languages, but the English version is rather stilted, though adequate. Outside, the long rectangular square has been furnished with large round concrete "seats" that help to break up the monotonous length of the structure, and small workshops are set in the former railway arches. At the far end of the square is a large green model of a locomotive called The Crocodile.

A majestic REBIRTH by the railway station
Apr 2019 • Business
Do pay attention : the following lines describe the BRAND NEW SITE of this museum.
Just a stone throw away from Lausanne railway station, in an industrial suburb, the brand new MCBA (Musée Cantonal des Beaux-Arts) could have dreamt of a finer location, such as had been planned, by the lake, in 2008. No regrets. It is hauntingly beautiful. But only open to the public (allowed to a first glimpse this April week-end) from October 5, 2019. Some 20.000 travellers in daily transit will enjoy around 10.000 works of art on three levels. During more than two years, 600 workers erected majestic 18 meters high walls to support the ceiling. A flight of steps leads to the arched main hall splashed with natural light : 70 wells imagined by the Spanish winners of the project Alfredo Veiga and Fabrizio Barozzi. The upper level allows a sweeping view over the lake and Lausanne, a small European town with ambitions and potential : by 2021 this same building will house two more museums, Mudac for design and Elysée for photography.
Welcome next Fall !

And Amazing Museum
Jun 2018 • Business
The Palais de Rumine actually contains a few museums and a library (for the college students). There are 3 floors with zoology, history, archeology, geology. There were so many fascinating, unique things to see. The room of animal oddities, was quite the thing to see. As was seeing a taxidermed Coelacanth. We also enjoyed the room with the ancient shells and rocks. There was a display of meteors. One of the most complete skeletons of a Dodo bird is here! And a jaw bone from a sperm whale! My son got to look at a piece of amber underneath a microscope! There are so many different things to see! Exciting for children as well as adults! The museum is quite easy to navigate through.
