Free to enter (unless you want to go up the tower), the cathedral is a beautiful, peaceful space. Some of the stained glass windows were absolutely beautiful and I enjoyed spending time looking at them. Definitely worth a visit if you have time in Lausanne.

One of the most interesting aspects of the Cathedral is the various panels that give information about the figures engraved around the main doorway. However the building itself is also a stunning location to spend some time.

Wonderfully restored cathedral. Take the metro PAST the cathedral and walk down. Walk back down through the steps back to town, passing beautiful old store fronts and interesting cafes.

The history here is interesting, but it’s still an active church. I would expect the church to demand respect from visitor. There are signs posted to be quiet and to not take flash photography. But there were tour guides shouting to their customers, flashes constantly...More

I loved walking around this old Gothic cathedral and exploring all the detail work for a while. I especially liked the statues carved into the columns; they had that Middle Ages style of representing people, and I could even see the remnants of red and...More

...and for a good reason. After an initial life as a catholic sacred building, it became protestant and never got the luxurious decoration and priceless art that its catholic brethren received. On top of this, in a purely Swiss way, quality of construction is paramount,...More

This is a hard question - I would think the organ only plays during services. There is no one around during the non-service hours. Perhaps you could check their service schedule and try to attend one.
