It was my first trip to the Schynige Platte and a wonderful experience. The ride with the historical rack railway is memorable. The scenery is beautiful. On top it is well worth to do at least the 45 minutes panorama hike with an amazing view...More

Really characterful train, been going 100 years. Shop and restaurant plus walks and views at the summit. Not that we saw it all in the snow in August. Bit cold, bring plenty of suitable layers! Alphorn playing was very impressive.

The views of the valley are stunning during the cogwheel train ride. If you time your ride, you can get to hear the local farmers play the traditional swiss horn at the Schynige Platte station. Make sure you opt for a sunny day to make...More

We took the cogwheel train from Wilderswil to Schynige Platte which took around an hour. The ride is covered by the Swiss Travel Pass. Once we arrived, we were greeted by the melodious music of the alpine horns. I'd planned to visit the alpine garden,...More

My wife and I spent one day exploring Schynige Platte. The train ride to and from the top is relaxing and very enjoyable. The track crisscrosses a hiking path for those who prefer a strenuous walk up and meanders through several different mountain environments -...More

We went up in the cog train up to SP which takes 50 mins and goes slowly through dense alpine forests and burrows through the landscape. Touristy it may be, however the sudden appearance of the big three mountains when we emerged from a tunnel...More

... and still it's a fantastic experience. The rolling stock is 'heritage' and the more enjoyable for that. The journey takes about 50 minutes and is a delight throughout (on a good day) with views through the trees of Interlaken, Lake Brienz etc on the...More
