We walked across the bridge on a sunny day and it was fun to see so many people floating down the river with their inflated bags keeping their clothing dry. The bridge was a great place to get pictures up and down the river, and...More

This bridge provides tram and pedestrian traffic. It is an easy walk to cross the river. We used the ferry one way and then the bridge coming back.

Take the ferry over to one side of the river and walk across the bridge to get back. There are a few statues to look at, but the main attraction is the Rhine itself.

The original bridge was built in 1226 and lasted until 1903, when the current bridge replaced it. It was built in the same style and handsomely links both sides of Basel.

Walk across the river- there won't be many boats- just ducks and perhaps swans, but it does give you a good view of the city and takes little effort

Just in the proximity of the Rathaus is located this beautiful Mittlere Brucke (The Middle Bridge). That is one real symbol of Basel. It is opened in 1226 and is one of the oldest crossings over the river Rhine between the Lake Constance and the...More

Stretching across the Rhine is the Mittler bridge, a wonder in stone that still stands, allowing for boats to pass between its broad sections. Do cross the bridge at least once to admire the structure from both ends!
