Piazza Giovanni Bovio is very windy offering a view of Elba Island. Alas the sign pointing to Elba was not clearly marked to distinguish it from other islands and the cloudy weather did not help.

Beautiful views from here, especially to neighbouring islands such as Elba, but there is little or no shade, so not the best place to be on a hot day. The large inlaid compass shows the names of various winds and the directions from where they arrive here. The old town itself is a joy to wander around. The Tourist Info Office has a free map with a walking route clearly marked on it. It guides you round the main points of interest and the best viewpoints (of which there are several) There are also helpful info boards at the main sights. This town may be small but it is very tourist friendly.…
