The house has been restored to the way it looked when his family owned it, so the rooms themselves are worth seeing. There are several of Michelangelo's clay models for large statues that he made later using marble. Of special interest are two small reliefs...More

Somewhat off the beaten track (or perhaps we were lucky to be alone there). This house was owned for a short time by Michaelangiello. It is filled with some of his art (see the Madona of the Stairs) and other's as well. But it was...More

Taking a side street north from Santa Croce Church, we made a serendipitous discovery, a non-descript house with a sign "Casa Buonarroti". That's Michelangelo's family name. And when we entered, we learned that this was the location of the home where the famous artist grew...More

My artist-art-teacher husband loved this smallish house museum. It's an out-of-the-way place belonging, at one time, to THE Michelangelo’s great nephew. It's filled with Michelangelo's studies and works that had moldered in a closet for over a hundred years, which his nephew collected and lovingly...More

I really enjoyed my visit to this place! A humble house with much history. Very well designed with many interesting items on display: some Michelangelo works, but mostly art collected by the Michelangelo family over the years, and also many interesting displays and memorabilia telling...More

Casa Buonarroti is not the most important museum to visit in Florence but it's a must for Michelangelo enthusiasts. You will see his first two sculptures; "The Virgin of the Stairs," and "The Battle of the Centaurs." Look closely at them as you can if...More

This was temporarily his home whilst amongst other things he organised the city defences .There is nothing outstanding that sticks in the memory but it made an interesting contrast to the other better known attractions nearby & I did learn quite a bit about Michaelangelo...More

Obviously we are all big Michelangelo fans. Here it is more about the family residence and the school created by the master than his own art. Two levels, they have done a very nice jobs curating the art on site. It was cool inside, a...More

The actual home that Michelangelo lived in in Florence. Only a block from Santa Croce and an easy and rewarding several minute side trip.
