After enduring the heaving chaos around the Duomo of Santa Maria del Flore, we escaped to the relative calm and peace of Palazzo Pitti. It's only a short walk over the Ponte Vecchio (Florence is surprisingly compact) and a great place to visit. We'd planned...More

We really enjoyed our visit to here and the Boboli Gardens. The palace had amazing rooms with so many wonderful paintings and breathtaking ceilings. Do allow plenty of time as there is just so much to see.

The gardens are very impressive, especially when viewed in the early morning before the crowds show up. Do make the effort to climb to the top where you are rewarded not just with fine views but also to discover the porcelain gallery with its own...More

It’s mostly a painting gallery which was fine. I thought there would be more furnishings from the palace. Disappointed in the costume gallery as it was modern, not dated to the time of the palace.

There's so much to see here it's hard to know where to begin, but I thought the Boboli Gardens were the highlight - a real peaceful respite from the busy streets and museums. There are enchanting grottos and fountains in the gardens, plenty of places...More

The gardens are extraordinary - we actually went twice and still feel that we might have missed things. The Palazzo itself is vast, ornate and packed to the rafters with statues and paintings. So many that it is difficult to focus on any one thing....More

I adore this place. I’ve been on both of my visits to Florence. It is so pretty, tranquil and inspiring. I loved just aimlessly wandering soaking it all in. Highly recommended. Go early to avoid lines or book in advance! You can access the gardens...More

Everyone raves about the Uffizi and the Academia but I think my favorite was Pitti. Went twice in 10 days. Without pre-buying on line we waited 3 minutes. The content is overwhelming- each room PACKED top to bottom. One wall had a Titian, Raffaello, Botticello...More

Both are wonderful places to visit! However, I think everyone in your party including the teens would enjoy Uffizi over Pitti. There is more variety in the art - different periods, paintings, sculpture, frescoes, etc... More
