I, unwisely, bought my tickets through a website ‘Florence Museums’ - beware, they charge almost double what the ticket price should be. The entrance fee is E20. That said, it is an amazing museum, filled with glorious paintings and statues. Breathtaking is one word to...More

Hi, It's quite confusing but basically there are 2 entrance doors. Looking at the gallery from outside there is an entrance door on the right, for E20, but they only let about 20 people in at a time and the queue is very, very, very long and hardly moves. The door on the left is the queue for for fast track tickets entry E24 each. It is worth getting these tickets as they give you an allocated entrance time very close to time of buying ticket. They tell you to join the queue on the left 10minutes before allocated time but we joined the long queue straight away and it took about 30mins to get into the gallery which was exactly at our appointed time! To buy these tickets you need to go straight to the ticket office and queue (it's exactly in the middle of the 2 main entry doors). Alternatively, you can get in with a guide e35-50 each person, you can barter with them but they still need to queue but you get the history if the paintings and Florence told to you. We queued for about 15mins in centre, bought tickets at 11.30 which showed entry time of 12-12.15, got straight in queue on left side with our tickets and finally got in at 12pm. Good luck, Florence is chaotic, queues everywhere, you need tickets for everything but there are tourist offices everywhere and one is just opposite main train station. Tip for Duomo, the tickets sell out fast so buy immediately, we couldn't get any but we were guided to a small side entrance where you can enter fro free if you take mass. We did this as otherwise we wouldn't have seen it. Florence us stunning and the gallery is beautiful, took us 2.5hrs to see everything.
