I didn't expect to encounter such an incredibly rich and breathtaking selection of ancient greek art in Syracusa. And there's so much of it. But that's Italy: you think you're out in the boondocks somewhere and then - BAM - you see art you'll never...More

There are many things to see in the museum, including a megladon tooth that is over 23 million years old. We enjoyed the coin and jewels exhibit and the prehistoric creature part. We got exhausted because there is so much to see but one could...More

Well organized and catalogued items. Air conditioning was sub par and restrooms were gross, but available. Most item descriptions in Italian, some in English. Fascinating account of the history of the area.

Think of the Egyptian Museum.... OK, while it's not quite so stuffed full of artefacts as Cairo's most chaotic must-see, the Paolo Orsi Archaeological Museum tries hard to match it! There are just so many statuettes, ancient pots, Roman children's toys, headless statues and other...More

I often travel with a friend of ours that is an historian. He is very critical of museums and how they layout and display their artifacts and information. He walked away from this museum and RAVED about it. It's amazing. They have collected so very...More

Take some time to visit this museum because their collection is huge! Impressive collection, nice explanations. A little bit too many objects though, they should try to improve quality upon quantity. Apart from that, great museum!

Wet day so museum seemed a good option. However, it was a revelation and worth investing 2/3 hours to look at some outstanding exhibits in both range and quality. The jewellery and coin section was brilliant. On the hop on/off bus route so easy to...More

We found this to be both unexpected and extraordinary. It was meticulous in its collections of relics and ornaments, ceramics and shards excavated from the area of Syracuse and its environs, possibly extending in an arc of 15 miles or so around the city proper....More
