Disappointing
Oct 2020 • Couples
We came here in early October to go for a swim. This was on the advice of the locals who felt it was better than Mondello although rocky. We took a Taxi to near the entrance, paid the fee and then tried to find somewhere nice to swim. We found several private beaches and clubs, a marina, car parks, alot of concrete, and a tiny bit of coast with high rocks. There were no maps or signposting so after walking around for an hour we left. Perhaps we should have rented bikes or got more detailed instructions but I cannot understand why anybody would want to go here.

Hike along wild shoreline
Jun 2020
Shortly after leaving Piazza Mondello you’ll enter the Capo Gallo Natural Reserve, so you have to pay one Euro. If you’re ready for a hike in wild nature, it’s going to be a very well spent Euro, don’t worry!
If you expect to discover some cozy sandy beaches on the way, it’s time to return to Mondello: there will be no sandy beaches.
Don’t forget to pack some fresh water and wear hiking shoes, sunglasses and a baseball cap or a hat.
The hike will offer you scenic views all the way and the chance to observe some typical Mediterranean flora and fauna. It’s all about the journey, not the destination.
The rocky slopes of Capo Gallo are really impressive. Then you’ll see Faro di Capo Gallo, which is an abandoned lighthouse standing at the bottom of a dramatic rock, overlooking the sea.
You can also reach the lighthouse by bicycle or motorbike although after leaving the lighthouse the paths are getting wilder, so it’s safer to walk.
Then you’ll see a massive boulder where the message ZONA NUDISTA (naturist beach) is painted. There is actually no beach around, just volcanic rocks popping out from the sea. The waves keep crushing against these rocks so it’s not easy to dive from here. There are lizards sunbathing on the cliffs and crabs and some other marine crustaceans hiding underneath.
I kept hiking until the path disappeared under vegetation, somewhere close to Grotta d’Olio. L’Isola delle Femine was visible from that point in the background.

WOW!! So much to see in the Park
Nov 2019
We actually walked on both sides of the park. The trail was easy to walk and easy to see the direction of the path. The wildlife such as dolphins, lizards and wild goats was amazing. History and natural beauty are all over this park. All in all it took all day to really appreciate all the park has to offer. Parking is easy on both sides, the trails are well maintained. The view changes on every corner!! Do some reading on the history of the land (WWII), origins, etc... You will understand more clearly why this is a Natural Reserve

Breathtaking views
Oct 2019 • Friends
From Mondello beach we walked for about 10 minutes to the Reservation. There's an entrance fee of 2 euro per person. Prepare to walk a little there and to be mesmerized by the views.

Great day out
Sep 2019 • Couples
after researching this numerous times we decided to walk out there from Mondello beach. Definitely made it more enjoyable as it was a beautiful day and we could stop and appreciate things along the way. As is mentioned in other reviews, it is 1 euro per person to enter from the chaps in the foldout seats.

It is definitely very hot and would highly recommend sunscreen/good walking shoes/hat. We walked for around an hour exploring the coastline and the old watch towers/lighthouse reaching the nudist zone before turning round and heading back to one of the coves for a swim. The water is incredibly clear and absolutely beautiful.

One recommendation I’d make is to try and organize water/aqua shoes beforehand as you’ll be climbing up and down rocks to enter and exit the water which can be tough on your feet! Otherwise an absolutely fantastic day!

Looking for a nice (white sandy) beach? Don't go!
After many great reviews we were excited to go there. Walking all the way to the nudist area and still find very rocky and dangerous rocks/ cliffs before one can reach the water.
So we turned all the way back and jumped into the water at the tiny "beach". Well, it wasn't really a beach - rather a small spot with some sand close to the yacht club.
Really don't understand the hype of great reviews.

A very nice experience!
Jun 2019
I just loved walking to this place; it wasn't crowded - we only met few people. Once you have paid the ticket, you need to walk for a while under the sun - it's quite difficult if it's not early in the morning (we arrived here at noon) - you need sun screen, water and something to cover your head. Once arrived near the coast, the thermal discomfort vanished, thanks to the wind, and the view became spectacular. This was a very special experience in Sicily for me!

Quiet secluded rocky coast.

Stunning gem away from the hussle and crowded beaches. Rocky rugged coastline. Worth paying the 1 euro per person to walk to.

Beautiful view
Jul 2018 • Family
This place is a true gem, located near San Vito Lo Capo. It's a little walk from the car park down to the pebble beach bay, but well worth the effort. The water is crystal clear and has varying shades of aquamarine and turquoise. The cliff is not too high, around 7-8m, and provides for a great spot for some cliff-jumping action! Highly recommended!

An absolute gem off the beaten track!

We visited this please having read the reviews on trip advisor and really enjoyed the walk in from The centre of Mondello all the way to the lighthouse (and beyond to the cove) taking in this beautiful reserve. Things you can expect: a 1 Euro entry fee from two chaps sat on plastic chairs on entry to the reserve, a few goats with bells on, an amazing yacht club, private beaches, a light house and private cove (this was much further round and believe this is a naturist beach though you’d have to be super keen to get your kit off as it was a challenging walk to find the cove let alone get down it to the beautiful turquoise pools for a skinny dip!) . We saw lots of wildlife and the most beautiful view out to sea. Peaceful and tranquil; a great opportunity to get back to nature after a few days of the local hustle and bustle!
