Not great, not terrible
Oct 2020
A decent place to kill one hour or so, especially in a rainy day.
The palace has a good potential to host a stunning temporary exhibition, in my opinion.
I visited the venue in 2020, between the two waves of coronavirus pandemic and there was just the permanent stuff exposed, which is not really wow.
Hopefully, you're going to be luckier.

Avoid please, save your money

Wow , what a waste of 6€ per person for 2 rooms basically. Feeling robbed would be an understatement. We went on the 1st floor when someone came rushing telling us to go on the 2nd floor and locked the 1st floor quickly. AVOID

Not great

Was barely any artwork. Only about 10 pieces and the first floor was closed. Was not worth the money!

Maybe worth 2 euro, not 6.
Sep 2019
It's not really worth it. The staff seemed shocked that somebody actually came here. The exhibitions were quite blah- maybe a couple interesting pieces, but nothing really of note. I don't know if they have a permanent collection- that space was used for a temporary exhibition. It's hard to write a review at length about this place. Just another money-sucker on the tourist strip. In short- not much to see.

Don't go and waste your money. Just do Butterfly house.
Jun 2019 • Solo
Honestly, I went to the young man at the desk after spending 11€ for gallery (5€ for butterflies) and said "please explain!" Two small floors of semi interesting and at times frankly just taking up space modern art. The butterfly house on the other hand is lovely and gives a real insight into Italian children's behavior!

Contemporary museum, worthwhile to visit
Oct 2018 • Couples
The contemporary museum, entrée costing 7 Euro, but there was a nice exposition, which some famous names Ai Weiwei, Richard Long, Jannis Kounellis etc

There are only two floors (stairs inside and elevator outside) but the museum also has a backyard with art and a small gallery, don’t forget to that as well !!

Finding an artist by an artist..!
Sep 2018 • Couples
The Palazzo Belmonte Riso was originally an historic home built at the end of the 18th century by the princes of Ventimiglia di Belmonte. It is an interesting example of a noble private residence that combines late-Baroque magnificence with neoclassical style.

The building, overlooks the sumptuous Piazza Bologni.

I did not expect what I found- a fabulously creative artist that paints on aluminium in an unusual way that seems like a painting similar to the way a collage is assembled.

Croce Taravella is the Artist of international value whose works have been exhibited in prestigious exhibitions, from Europe to China, as well as the Venice Biennale of Art and Architecture.

There are more than 20 large-scale paintings of cities that, though transformed over time, have left an indelible mark on the artist's life.
Two very helpful lady curators and I battled through our lack of each other’s language to explain to me what the pictures were about and the the admiration we obviously shared for his work!

Simple shaded and stylish
Oct 2017 • Friends
This is a really interesting installation space/museum. The restaurant is stylish and has interesting options. The drinks and sweets are organic with some vegan options. The salad with pickled vegetables and seeds was so good- I didn't realize it came with seeds until the next table got theirs and then I knew I was missing them. The egg sandwich was interesting with wasabi and the beer we ordered was yeasty and interesting. It's wort stopping here.

Good lunch, good value.
Oct 2016 • Couples
Had a full four course lunch here today with coffee for 15 euro per person.
Nice staff, prompt service. An oasis of calm in full-on Palermo. Good organic wines to choose from.

Summertime and the living is easy...
Jul 2016 • Couples
We found out about this by accident after dinner one evening. The Museo Belmonte Riso is just across from the Piazza Bologni.

From the end of June until mid August there seems to be a Summer season of Jazz and Classical concerts organised by the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana Fondazione.

So if you fancy some culture while you visit Palermo during the Summer, check it out.

We paid €10 per person, which gave us entry to the Contemporary Art exhibition, the concert and aperitivo. Very good value and the music was excellent. A Jazz Quintet featuring a female singer too.

A lovely way to spend a warm Summer evening.
