Our tour guide, Iggy was very informative and showed us wonderful places away from the touristy places. We had lunch in a lovely restaurant high on Castelmola.
We thoroughly enjoyed this tour and highly recommend.
Our cruise ship was to be In the port of Messina for one day last week (mid-October, 2018), and we'd read excellent reviews of "Sicily with Mario" on cruisecritic.com, so I communicated with Mario via email last May and finalized our tour - Etna and...More

The only part of the tour that had a bit of an uphill walk was from the Bar Vitelli in Savoca up to the Chiesa di San Nicolo/Santa Lucia - the church which you see in the Godfather movie. It is not a really difficult walk, but you can use your judgement on the day - The views from the little village of Savoca are beautiful, and the atmosphere of Old Sicily is all around. There are a few stairs to get to the Crypt in the Convent of Capuchins Monks of Savoca, but again, if you take it easy, a few at a time, it may be worth your while. My wife and I are not youngsters, and neither are we very fit, but we managed OK.
Hope this helps - one way or the other.
