Three days in Verona were not enough but we left our rental car at this very large train station (the primary one of two) and with kindness from other train travelers got to the correct train platform to leave Italy for Germany. (We purchased our tickets online before leaving the United States.) Buses are in abundance outside the station and many of them travel the 10 minutes to and from Piazza Bra very frequently.…

Arrived late afternoon and no one was around, but it was easy to find the way to the city. Love the explanation with my friends!

Excellent station with good value shops. Note however there are TWO railway stations. We travelled from Venice and got off at the wrong station so we had a 4K walk to hotel

Quite a big station. You can catch a bus from the airport to the station (and back) - number 199... walk out of the airport departures main door, turn right and the bus stop is about 10m on the same side of the road. Runs regularly to the Porta Nuova for about 6 euros a person. Staff at the station are incredibly helpful (would that British staff were this good).. buy a ticket from a machine - not difficult to use, or the ticket office. There is a left luggage office and a bookshop type place where you can buy a map of Verona for afew euros. Toilets are 1 euro.... The main town is about a 20 minute walk and within half an hour, you can be in the centre of the old town. From the station, we went to Venice for a day (very busy with tourists but well worth a visit- an amazing place.. a direct train, about 1 hour 15 mins). It's worth checking trains on line, which you can do in the UK - you will notice the various prices, depending on which train you catch. We used the cheapest, which is the local train and it was fine. it took an extra 15 mins or so but we saved over 10 euros. As to Verona- we loved Verona. Visited the Roman Arena, the Roman theatre and attached museum, the castle and its museum, took the lift up the old clock tower, visited the cathedral and mooched around this lovely old town. (Buy a Verona card for the day if you are going to see 3 or 4 places of interest in a day). Lots of places to eat around the Piazza delle Erbe.…
