The true beauty of this place is its splendorous painted ceiling. It is painted so as to make believe that the actual ceiling is being risen up and expanded. Really great piece of work. Although it is free to get in, there is a full...More

This church looks uninspiring from the outside and I know a few people had passed it by but it is well worth a visit. Entry is free but no photography is permitted as the Church raises funds via the sale of postcards etc. Take a...More

Although we had stayed nearby last year, we missed this fantastic church. As with the church in nearby Toletino the outside is very plain, but inside is just amazing. Costs 50 cents to light the ceiling for the most stupendous artwork ever. How did Fumiani...More

You need a guide or guide book to give you interesting info for this. When you hear the stories, whether true or not, your imagination takes you even further.

There is a crack on the church caused by an earthquake but the church is stil stable. Step inside for a spectacular experience, the painting on the ceiling as beautiful, well worth a visit.

We were really looking forward to going to St. Patalon and seeing Vivarini's Coronation of the Virgin. It is a veritable who's who of the saint world. Unfortunately it was out on loan to an exhibition at the Accademia so we missed it. They have...More

Don't miss the unbelievable ceiling painting on the inside of this church! We learned on a Venice Free Tours that all the money needed to finish the front of the church went to the painting on the inside. You are not allowed to take pictures...More

Loved the frescoes by Longhi that are in a tucked away chapel. The ceiling was really incredible but was a story not known to us.

Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with
street artists, students, painters, sculptors,
restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and
heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's
collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for
evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries
cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica
buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob

The church is open all day but avoid the times when church services are on. Have some change ready for the light machines. Enjoy!
