About
The Venissa Estate is situated on the island of Mazzorbo, which together with Torcello and Burano, forms an archipelago of nature, colours, art and flavours at the heart of Native Venice. Torcello is one of the most ancient and prosperous settlements in the Lagoon: here lies the renowned basilica of Saint Mary Assunta, founded in 639. Burano, the "island of lace", is an exceptional cultural jewel famous for its ancient crooked bell tower and marvellous coloured houses. Crossing the characteristic wooden footbridge, from which you are rewarded with a moving view of Venice, you reach the island of Mazzorbo, with its all conquering, intimate and touching atmosphere. The entire Estate, with a cultivated area of over two hectares, is entirely encircled by medieval walls. Making this location even more charming is the towering fourteenth century bell tower.

This was such a disappointment after being told that we were going to a Michelin Star Restaurant. You can choose from a 5 course, 8 course or 10 course meal paired with wine. You could upgrade to include one of the restaurant’s own wines for a mere 15 euros each. Our bill came to 350 euros without tip. The wines were so-so and the food was minuscule in portions and, in my opinion, not very flavorful. Athens dishes were creative but not satisfying. I would not go back. Sorry.

Great location , with fab art also seem at the biennale , the views , good service and an exclusive historical wine that is worth trying Well worth the effort of venturing to another island of Venice . Much more relaxed than Murano and easily accessible

This review is for wine made on the property out of Dorona grapes. Deep gold, almost amber color. Nose: baked quince, wood fire. Palate: astringent, dry, wet grass and herbs, hint of lime. Finish: salty. Very well balanced.

Doesn't get five SARS due to the high price: E25 per tasting per person.

This small and peaceful vineyard is located on the northeast corner of one of the Mazzorbo islands (there are 4 small islands close together). The Venissa vineyard has been able to save the 'golden grape' which was favored by the Venetian Doges. The bottles are works of art themselves with real gold leaf fired onto the bottles at Murano, then each bottle is hand inscribed with a serial number and the year's vintage. Pretty amazing! The backdrop of the vineyard is the mid-1200's Santa Caterina Monastery and Campanile that houses the oldest bell in the entire lagoon area. They have a restaurant, tavern and even Bed & Breakfast type stay available.
