This part of Venice is a little more quiet, but just as beautiful. Escape the masses and tourist traps and wander around here instead.

We stayed at a hotel in Dorsoduro. A lovely neighbourhood with many nice local shops small attractions. Most importantly it’s a short walk away to the main attraction of San Marco and the hustle and bustle of Venice. Would definitely recommend staying in rush neighbourhood.

Go right up to the bank of canal. It offers some mesmerising views of sunset. We sat there for 2 hours and just enjoyed the sight of sky turn dark.

This is the art district of Venezia. Many only come to the Academia and leave. The tiny alleys and restaurants are less crowded and the calmness and quietness of this area is restorative. Don't pass up the quieter areas that the locals use it shows...More

Dorsoduro is safe and very pleasant, but not the cheapest. I guess Castello or Giudecca are. They are less central. Venice is a safe place except for pickpocketing. The pickpockets are very skillful, especially on... More
