The area
Neighborhood: San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

Dali has been "pigeonholed" by his ubiquitous surrealist painting, so, few people are aware of his brilliant craftsmanship in jewelry, sculpture, lithographs and his stunning books. What an eye-opener; a surprising exposé of Dali's technical brilliance in several genres. A highlight of our trip to Venice.

It was very nice exhibition and many masterpieces presented. The price of 10? was a bit expensive for me

We were struck by the vast collection on display. The exhibition has a great amount of Dali work and it was interesting to see his early schetches. We arrived before closing time and did not have nearly enough time to enjoy all the work on display. You will need at least two hours. Highly recommended.

Smallish exhibition with mostly lithographs and sculptures. None of the more famous paintings. Felt that we didn't get great value for our €10 per person.

Wonderful exhibition of the great surrealist artist, focused on bronze sculptures and other objects, showing sides of Dalì artistic genious unknown to me.
Many artworks are also offered for sale, with prices ranging from few hundred euros for the limited edition prints to some 20,000 for the smaller sized sculptures.
The bookstore offers items of higher quality than average for this kind of exhibition.

What a strange man he was! Almost as if he took three random words from the dictionary and put them together in a piece of art - but terriffic. Quotations were wonderful, exhibition was nicely laid out, and easy to negotiate.
