Stresa: Day Pass 3 Borromean Islands Hop-On Hop-Off Boat Tour

91 reviews
Island-hop around the islands of Lake Maggiore and create your own itinerary with a hop-on hop-off ferry ticket. With a day pass you can spend your day sightseeing at your own pace, spending as much or little time on each island as you wish. Step onto the shores of Isola Bella, wander around tiny Isola dei Pescatori; and admire the botanical gardens of Isola Madre.

Fantastic sunday trip to lago Maggiore and its small islands just in front of Stresa. We decided to purchase the tickets on line the day before in order to avoid queues once arriving at the islands. If yuo travel by car, there is a major car park just in front of the peir (piazza Maggiore) . Tickets for the boats can be purchased just from the guys helping to park cars (they look like sailors but they are actually promoting the boat company they work for). I suggest to buy a combined ticket for 2 island (isola Madre and isola Bella) at the cost of 24€/person. The boat ticket should be betwen 15 to 20€, depending on the company. In this case it's always convenient to buy the one forall islands, including isola dei pescatori, which is mainly covered by restaurants, but still worth a stroll. Isola Bella is magnificent, the palace and it's interiors are really impressive, as well as the garden and the terraces looking at Stresa. A unique place indead, with plants, trees, statues...truly fantastic. Isola Madre is much smaller, the main palace is not as decorated as the one on Isola Bella, but stillvery fascinating. The botanic garden has some very rare trees, and white swans go around among the visitors. If it happens to visit the north of Italy, this is a fantasti destination, even for a day trip out of Milan...

There are 3 islands which are Isola Madre,Isola Bella & Isola Pescatori wherein you can do when you're in STRESA.It's just an hour or two(depending on your choice of train) from Milan. They are one of the famous boat tours you'll find.I like the 3 islands. You will see their stunning flowers in the Garden,Museum but i love the most Isola Pescatori as it very refreshing to the eyes & you'll find the most irresistable restos by the lake. They showcase every single cravings you'll have. From pizza, pasta, seafoods, cocktails, desserts & ice cream of course on a hot day. Also the best place to buy your souvenirs. If you visit Milan,This is a must to visit. You'll love the boat ride transfering from 1 island to another.I recommend the tour.

My husband and I had no idea what awaited us when we began our tour of the palace and gardens. We were blown away by the opulence and the extraordinary craftmanship of the palace and by the beauty of the perfectly designed gardens. Definitely a must see if you're visiting the Lake District.

Must see if you go to lake maggiore. You will need one day to visit all three island. The best way to go is with the public ferry boat. When you reach the counter a lot of people will try to sell you private rides. I prefer to stick with Navigazione Lago Maggiore. They have a 18€ ticket for the three islands available for one day. There is frequent boats (about every 45 min) and they are on time. Isola bella has a very nice palaze to visit. You can easily spent a few hours. Try to arrive early. You can buy a ticket to visit isola Bella and isola madre. The second island (Isola Superiore dei Pascatori) is a small island with only restaurants and souvenir shops. We had a panini by the lake and left for Isola Madre. If you don’t want to pay for the visit of the garden don’t go there is nothing else to see. But it is really worth the visit, the garden is luxurious. A small caffe is in the middle of the garden. It’s an expensive day, but really worth it.
