Opera as it should be
Nov 2019
I went to a performance of Verdi's Macbeth. The opera house was built over 200 years ago and has not lost its luster. The acoustics are some of the best that I have experienced anywhere.

The orchestra may not be as tight as the Vienna Philharmonics but one senses that the members enjoy themselves. Their enjoyment is contagious. The Maestro Gianluigi Gelmetti conducted with heart and displayed sincere enthusiasm, showing emotions openly - the Italian way. The singers were excellent. The audience appeared mostly to be from the area which made the whole experience even more authentic. I went to La Scala last year and can honestly say that will prefer to return to a performance at the Teatro Sociale. Actually, I can't wait to come back.

Lovely theatre, website hell
Dec 2017 • Family
We went last night to see the ballet Don Quixote at the Teatro Sociale in Como (behind the Duomo). This is the most beautiful theatre, although slightly distressed. It is well worth a visit but finding out what is on and the process of buying tickets is so painful it needs tremendous perseverance.
Go on the web site and hit the translate into English button, it doesn't. You would think pressing the 'Season' button would tell you what is on for the season. It doesn't.
Try actually buying tickets, you need a degree in advanced computer science.
Pass the theatre to go to the box office and it seems never to be open.
Once in the theatre there is one tiny bar, and they don't sell programmes, both great sources of revenue. How crazy is that?
Persevere, you will have a wonderful experience but the hurdles you have to cross buying tickets and spending your money are so unnecessary. There is however a very nice bar next door.

Wonderful theatre in the center of Como
Nov 2017 • Friends
This theatre is located exactly in the backwards of the Dome of Como.
The inner part is wonderful and well decorated, the acustic is very good and the chairs are quite comfortable.
It's clear from the stalls the stage has a slight slope downwards (to the public).
I liked the building as I could see also dressing rooms and rehersal rooms but the program for the ballet season could be better.

La Traviata
Nov 2016 • Couples
La Traviata is one of our favorite operas so we saw it in many other operas around the world. And this particular performance turned out to be one of the most interesting and beautiful

Classic concert
Nov 2016 • Couples
Nice traditional theatre beautifully decorated with a huge number of boxes and quite small stalls area and stage. It feels very intimate and is reasonably priced as subsidised by the council I believe. The seats in the stalls are quite tight and a little low set even for someone of average proportions. It has a wide range of different events and worth visiting. Nice little bar restaurant as part of the theatre is also worth attending for a pre concert aperitif. It only opens at 7pm so may be quite a rush to eat there before a concert starting at 8pm

Congress at Teatro Sociale
Oct 2015
From the little square at the entrance there is a nice view. Interior is a little "dusty " and old and not appropriate for a congress .
