Basilica di San Fedele is located at the former corn market in Como and is dedicated to the martyr Saint Fidelis.

The Lombard Romanesque church dates back to 1120.

The facade was rebuilt and restored in 1914 and the bell tower due to tilting was demolished in 1905 and replaced.

This church in Como is historic and worth visiting.

Only saw this beautiful building from the outside. Very nice church in a piazza of the same name. Recommended when in the area.

We much preferred this fine church to the Duomo which is just a few minutes walk away. It has a fine neo-Romanesque exterior (although the clock with it's modern lettering rather than roman numerals looks a little odd - I think it was only built about 100 years ago). There are also traces of romanesque inside although there's mostly baroque elements. Some interesting frescoes obviously dating from the middle ages were the highlight for us. There's an attractive piazza in front of the church which provides a good lunch stop with views of the church's front facade. Definitely worth a visit if you're strolling around Como's histroic centre.

The Basilica is quite old. The actual Basiclica is from the 12th century. The interiour is interesting. In my opinion, it is one of the most interesting buildings of Como Historic Center.

This church is in the city centre, a few minutes walk from the main Cathedral.
The exterior is still in the original romanesque style, whereas the inside is dominated by baroque.
A nice view in the center of Como.

Located in the city centre the Basilica dedicated to Saint Fidelis martyr is a must see. The building has a grand setting with three naves, three apses and is covered by a dome. In the basilica there are many frescoes, paintings and beautifully decorated chapels to enjoy. Be sure not to miss the the painting of the Madonna tra i santi Sebastiano e Rocco (1508) and depiction of Purgatory.

This is a very beautiful church with paintings on the walls and high ceiling. The altar area is impressive with the overhead paintings and dome. The church contains a very pretty statue of Mary against a long blue drape. It is definitely worth stopping in for a look.

This Church is slightly off the main piazza of Old Como, but is well worth the walk. It is beautiful inside with a mixture of ages of the Church. Frescos and stone work are from several different time periods and the entire church feels like Catholicism lives here.

Although we didn't visit here at the right times to enter the building itself, the outside is impressive. The piazza di San Fedele was a stunning place to people watch with an ice cream in hand or at one of the many restaurants here. It really showed the history and age of the area. Well worth visiting but remember to dress modestly like any of the religious buildings in the area.
