It’s old. Very old. Actually it’s a bit crumbly on places and could do with a bit of love and care. The new town is a bit grim really. Might spend half a day there at most in the old town - the French side...More

Ventimiglia gets a fairly good review from Fodor. We suggest you cross the border to the French Riviera where things are more prosperous and more attractive.

Having read a review, we agree, the town is betwixt a makeover and a leaving it as it is. And that is it’s charm. Winding pedestrianised alleys, little plazas and quiet. An allure that deserves to remain as it is.

On a recent trip to the Cote D'azur and a day trip by rail from Nice i arrived here. Having researched previously, this was always on my list of places to go. Plus the quirk of crossing an international border. The old town is imposing...More

We drove over the border from Monaco into here. Great places to shop for high end clothing. Tailors will fix your suit in the same day in most places. Amazing food and wine all around. Really enjoyed it here !

We visited for the Friday Market on the sea front. This is a very big market selling everything from leather goods to food. Worth going out of you way to see. The town itself is also delightful, with many places to eat, a covered market...More

Many people go to Ventimiglia for the shopping, and forget to look across to the old town. Crossing the footbridge that spans the river as it joins the sea, you walk up following the signs to the cathedral, passing several smaller churches as you climb...More

...it’s filled with cheap imported crap. But the regular everyday market is worth a visit for some cheese, meat, arancini etc. Also the town centre, within 500m of the train station, has somehow managed to maintain an air of authenticity. Beach is rocky and too...More

Went to Ventimiglia on a day trip by train from Nice. It‘s a nice old part of this small Italian coastal city.

Fantastic location just above the new town and along the coast from Nice. Proper earthy Italy with some very friendly locals and stunning architecture!

Hi, yes, the market is only on Fridays. It is a small town, so anywhere is walking distance. There are a lot of holiday appartements right in front of the beaches, many good restaurants around. But with kids of 10ish, I... More

September 19th is Tuesday, as far as I can see. The Friday market starts approximately at 9 a.m., maybe even earlier, as they have food there, too - local cheese and ham, spaghetti, olive oil, etc. I guess it's true that... More

There is plenty of parking just outside the Old Town. Best to park in the Square which is just near Ventimiglia Marina near promenade. Hope this helps.
