A bit of a walk to get there from the new town. An impressive building with lots of history. Plain compared to other Italian cathedrals but nice.

This romanesque church is simple and unadorned. The interior is mostly un-plastered stonework with little ornamentation or decoration. You get a really sense of what an early medieval church may have looked like. The interior comprises a nave with an adjoining baptistery. There is access...More

This old cathedral is particularly remarkable for its very old crypt (8th century) and beautiful baptistery (11th century) with its wall paintings. The cathedral was is built on the ruins of a much earlier Lombard church, which in turn had been constructed on the site...More

Only two others in here when we were. It has a crypt as other rooms as well as the main church. Lovely paintings and kept well together.

Beautiful church, simple and classic with soaring ceilings. Some wonderful baptismals and other more ancient relics have been uncovered in the basement and are well-displayed. It felt like a truly reverent place.

Well preserved cathedrale, worth the climb to see. The art work and other artifacts. Definitley deserves all the praise as read in the othr reviews. A must see when in Ventomiglia.

It was nice to stop in and visit. There were people there filming something that looked like a soap opera, it probably would have been nicer to visit if those people hadn't been there.

This is a plain old church with very few statues, paintings, gold, etc. But, that is it's beauty. The construction of the walls is the original block work which is very interesting. You feel like you have gone back to a church five hundred years...More

The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta is an old one, since it was built around 1,100 AD. Austere and simple, it is worth paying a visit if you are around Ventimiglia old town. Ideal for weddings, you might meet people cheering the bride outside the...More

It was one among the many nice surprises the Ligurian city of Ventimiglia offered us. There was already sometime that we were curious about this city and finally we decided to explore it. I believe it's not among the most talked-about Ligurian cities, but it...More
