This free museum (and that in itself is remarkable) is a former palazzo complete with beautiful furnishings, including, as others have said, the kitchen, but also lots of remarkably preserved furniture. There are also a handful of glorious art works by Tiepolo and Carpaccio, and...More

After completing the European Peace Walk from Vienna to Trieste I came across the Civico Museo Sartorio. The guide was wonderful and spoke excellent English. The building was mostly set up as a period piece with beautiful furnishings which included, my highlight, the kitchen. Such...More

What a wonderful surprise! One can only visit the museum with a guide. This is because they don't have enough personnel to keep an eye on all the rooms. So they organize guided visits every one hour and fifteen minutes. The guide was very knowledgeable...More

It has everything, the man who made the collection has left the most amazing bits of history as well as the 240 Tiepolo drawings that are out of this world. Make sure you go to the ground floor to see the other collection and the...More

It was late afternoon on a Saturday and we weren't sure we could gain admittance because it looked like a small wedding reception was happening. We were delighted with a guide that made this museum truly meaningful and a true delight to experience! This building...More

We were recieved shortly (an hour) before closing time and given an intelligent, coherent and responsive guided tour. The guide was clearly an academic rather than a scripted automaton. The collection is fantastically rich. Generally I hate guided tours. This one was highly satisfactory. I...More

Extensive art collection , modern to Renaissance. The Renaissance collection is worth the admission alone! An old elegant home houses this museum, and the living rooms have been beautifully restored. The 19th century kitchen was intact, with the stoves and cookware. Very unusual. Personal guides...More

Not far from the sea and the center pedestrian area, this home previously belonging to a family of Trieste merchants was donated along with all its contents to the city. Besides the incredible collection of 246 Tiepolo sketches, the 4th largest collection in the world,...More

I had the museum virtually to myself and was able to wander from room to room enjoying beautiful paintings and pictures, tapestries, furniture, china and room decorations. Very good helpful notes to most rooms in English.
