A really lovely walk around the old town. Not too much walking, and easy to hear with a small microphone and speaker. Great to hear about the history and learn the secrets of Bologna.
Francesca was so friendly, warm and informative. Thank you!

Great walking tour! Even though we had been 4 days in Bologna we saw and learned many new things. Very nice and knowledgeable guide. Would absolutely recommend!

This was one of the best free tour we had completed in Italy, the guide while covering the history of the city, told lots f antidotes and made in light hearted and interesting As a result the group was engaged for entire tour

We had an amazing guide. (so sorry I forgot her name – but she was on the small side as I was afraid that I might lose sight of her in the busy city) She knew what she was doing, every efficiently took us around, her explanations were very clear and English was easy to understand. She mixed facts and storytelling well.
In 2hrs, I felt like I knew Bolognia really well.

We had the pleasure of having Francesca as our tour guide for a 2-hour private tour in Bologna, and it was truly exceptional! Francesca's knowledge of the city's history and culture was impressive, and her flexibility in tailoring the tour to our interests was much appreciated. She came well-prepared and made our experience unforgettable. Thank you, Francesca, for a fantastic tour!

I did the free walking tour starting at the library next to the two towers. Chiara was our guide. The tour was shorter than announced (90 minutes). The group was pretty large (maybe around 40 people) and it was not always easy to understand what she was saying (because of noise & group size). I did lots of these tours in other cities and found this one to be on the lower end of the scale. It felt a little rushed and there surely are a lot of interesting details about this city that could have been added. For my taste there was too much focus on how to use the "correct" names of food and how to "correctly" combine the different ingredients. Although I'm really interested in food, and the food there is very good, I felt being lectured about not using the "incorrect" terms that are used everywhere else in the world. The city center is very beautiful and worth seeing, however, the tour could be improved. E.g. add a little more history, add sampling local food or drink, give more recommendations regarding restaurants.

The review I'm leaving is for the one that meets at the bookstore and whose company is called Free Walking Tour Italia (this is important as there are different free walking tour groups/companies).
I am leaving 2 stars and not 1 because the guide at least seemed pleasant. The tour met in the rain which was fine so their score isn't affected by that because it wouldn't be right. The group was large and the guide spent a lot of time talking under a canopy at a cafe due to the rain however the cafe came blasting music. She didn't have the loudest voice so I heard very little of what she even said despite moving my place in the group. It also was difficult because she had a very heavy accent (not hating!). I found that she really just focused on the people in front of her and not behind her so hopefully people have better hearing than myself. I ended up leaving the group early largely because I just couldn't understand what she was saying due to background noise, her voice, and the overall size of the group. I regret giving up what little time I had in Bologna for a tour which I got nothing out of. The guide really needed a microphone and to find spots in which people could actually hear her. I realize it just wasn't me either. I saw people taking off throughout the tour when we went from spot to spot.

We thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour of Bologna with Mateo. He was extremely knowledgeable and had a good sense of humour. He was very helpful in giving us a good historical and topical overview of the top sights in Bologna.

Stefania, our guide, was very friendly and knowledgeable. Meeting instructions were easy to follow, and Stefania spoke good English so her commentary was also easy to follow. A good overview of the main sights and we were then able to decide which ones we wanted to revisit in more depth. Recommended.

I booked the Free Walking Tour in Bologna using this website freewalkingtouritalia.com.
Avoid using them. Very unprofessional.
Originally booked for 11am as this was our first/only full day in Bologna and thought it would be good to do the tour in the morning and then revisit some places in the afternoon.
About 2 weeks before our visit the tour got changed to 3.30pm but we decided to go ahead anyway.
Having meandered around Bologna for the morning/early afternoon and not visiting some of the points of interest that we expected to be covered, we went to the meeting point at 3.20pm. Waited until 4.00pm (along with 12+ other people) but no guide arrived. Sent message to them on WhatsApp but they did not reply until the next morning. Said that the guide was a bit late and was at the Feltrinelli bookstore on the other side of the square. Feltrinelli bookstore was not mentioned on their instructions. Bullsh1t, I think. Lots of people waiting in the same place as us. Very unprofessional.

Hi,
We are coming to Bologna in May. Your website says there are only tours on Saturdays and Sundays. Is that correct?
Thanks
