Sculpture in white-grey marble of pope Urban VIII in lifestyle and life height; you see the sarcophagi in marble. See it near the front of the Basilica. Triumph of Bernini's art, this sculpture decorating the Pope's tomb seems almost living. Beautiful and shouldn't be missed....More

This is a big bold statue/monument of Pope Urban VIII, sculptured by Bernini, 9and assistants) that took twenty years to complete. It fits in quite well of the surrounds of the basilica. Definitely a must viewing.

Its big and ornate and not to everyone's cup of tea. The Pieta is by far more subtle, well crafted and not"in-your-face" as Urban is. But its worth the visit.

The tomb of Pope Urban is not to be missed in side St. Peter's Basilica. Thankfully you can get quite near.

Make sure you ask security because you can miss it. Right when you walk in- it's on the right side and it is guarded.
