Four of us stayed here for a long weekend, and were really pleased to have found this apartment, which was in a great location, close to The Vatican, with shops, restaurants and a metro within a short distance. Federico was a great host, with good local knowledge, organising taxi transfers and providing maps, clear directions and advice on what to see and where to eat nearby. The apartment has two bedrooms, with comfy beds, and a beautiful view over the piazza from the 7th floor balcony (there is a lift!) . We had breakfast each morning just round the corner at Pur Sud, where we found an amazing selection of pastries and coffees to set us up each day for sightseeing and shopping. I would definitely stay again on future visits to Rome.

The best way to take in and appreciate Prati is ... wait ... here we go: Once you've taken in the Villa Borghese and descended from it to the Piazza del Poppolo (that's a whole different story, which I indent to write up real soon), walk through the gate (the one the Pope renovated in order to welcome Queen Christina of Sweden, who had abdicated in order to live in Rome), continue walking straight until you reach the junction of the two tram lines: the No. 2 and 19. Take the 19 (on the left-hand side) to the Vatican. You won't regret it. Listen: once the tram has crossed over the Tiber, you'll find yourself in Prati. Keep looking around. Seriously: if you showed me a photo of some of these streets, I'd say, "Hey, this is Paris." And I know Paris like the back of my hand. Goodness. The tree-lined boulevards. The Housmann-type buildings (circa the Great Reconstruction). The shops, the cafes - everything is Paris-like here. This rione was built up at the same time as the Reconstruction took place up north - smack in the middle of the Nineteenth Century. The tram's final stop is three blocks away from St. Peter's. If you've ever been to Paris, you know EXACTLY what I mean.
