The area
Address
Neighborhood: Prati
Just steps away from the chaos of the center, Prati is the closest Rome gets to calm. Meticulously planned in a neat grid, quite unlike neighboring Borgo, Prati is a local favorite for its aesthetic organization and wide streets lined with a range of boutiques for every shopping fantasy. Nonnis pushing baby carriages and gossiping teens own every inch of the sidewalk, but that’s only during business hours. Once the sun sets, quirky sidestreet bars celebrate aperitivo hour, those evening cocktails that help wash away the tensions of Roman life.

It is a unique place, almost created by the imagination.

It is a unique place, almost created by the imagination.
If it were not there, perhaps it should be created.
Historic grocery in Rome, stocked with everything you can imagine.
Exclusive products from all over the world.
Assortment of foreign liquors that can only be found here.
Own roasting of excellent quality coffee.
And in addition to all these wonderful things, you can also find an excellent cup of coffee, a freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juice made in front of you, and magnificent croissants for your breakfast at very low and popular prices.
Friendly and fast service.
Unmissable.

Wonderful local store selling gourmet food and treats!
Jan 2020
On our first visit to Rome and Italy, we wanted to find a place that sold local treats to be taken home as souvenirs and reminders of our trip. We are so thankful that we found Castroni! It is a local chain selling gourmet food items such as dry pasta, tea, chocolates, sweets, and more. It seems to be a very popular place among the locals, as it was crowded when we entered the store. It was so hard to choose what we wanted to take back home, but we decided on a couple of chocolate bars and various other small chocolates. We cannot attest to the quality of the food and beverages that were served at the counter, as we did not purchase anything to be eaten immediately.

My daughter and I loved this store! The selection is outstanding. We brought home several items and would have purchased more if the suitcase was big enough!

Castroni - Tourist-friendly but not too tourisy
Oct 2019 • Solo
With a wide variety of gourmet stock, local wine and sweets, this is a place for your second last day in Rome for souvenir collection. The owners were helpful in introducing quality Italian wine. Price is very reasonable. Location is convenient - close to Vatican. Not so many tourists and this made my shopping experience even better.

Culinary Wonderland
Oct 2019
After a loooong line and crowds to see Sistine chapel we had a lunch at Porto restaurant. My daughter craved conoli so we asked the waiter where could we find one (they didn't have it on the desert menu). He suggested Castroni down the street. The second I stepped into this store, I felt like Alice in food Wonderland - beautiful shelves stocked with all kind of culinary goodies, condiments, food, sweets, spices you name it. Truly impressive selection. Wow....Picked up quite a few things to bring back to California. Chocolate, chocolate candies and candies selection is unreal. Stocked up on that too. Had espresso and green juice (VERY reasonably priced at 3,5 euros for a tall glass with carrots, celery, apple and orange, compared to almost 15 euros at Pierre Herme in Paris !) Espresso was delicious and so was the green juice. If I discovered the store sooner I'd be going there every day. It has such a pleasant vibe and upscale look. I only wish we had it in the Bay Area :-P What a treat in Rome.
Thank you Castroni !

For all your take home coffees and other treats!
Jun 2019 • Couples
Just came across this deli by chance and boy am I glad we did.
They've got coffees, teas, oils, vinegars and everything else you'd want to take back a little bit of Italy with you home.
We got the beans and their own Nespresso pods (as well as some interesting "tea" pods!) as well as some delicious Balsamic vinegar - and have been enjoying them ever since.
Great place to get some stuff for your pantry and as little gifts to all those waiting back at base!

Great selection
Apr 2019 • Family
There was a good variety of food from all over the world. Coffee was delicious that we ended up purchasing Castroni coffee beans to take home. Daughter loved packaged Italian muffins (with hazelnut cream). Since it was close to Easter, there was a tempting display of Easter chocolate, eggs, bunnies, you name it, they probably had it.
