Before entering the archaeological park we visited the Sanctuary.
The facade is stupendous, with a bewitching and evocative architecture that captures your gaze for a long time.
And even the bell tower is a marvel.
Inside there is a splendor of frescoes, marbles and decorations of great value.
Absolutely worth visiting!

That of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Holy Rosary is one of the most important sanctuaries in Italy. A Catholic place of worship that attracts millions of pilgrims from all over the world to Pompeii every year to ask for the intercession of the Virgin Mary.
The object of this devotion is a painting of modest workmanship, but nevertheless capable of performing countless miracles, as evidenced by the hundreds of votive offerings left on the walls of the corridors of this building.
Even the most skeptical cannot remain indifferent to the fact that the sanctuary is truly a place of great beauty and spirituality.

This Basilica dominates the square and the modern town of Pompei. From here everything radiates outwards, so lots of bars/cafes/restaurants and the resultant rip off the tourist. Inside the Basilica is very richly adorned and worth a visit.

This cathedral is one of the most beautiful churches that I have ever visited. It is often overlooked by tourists who visit the ruins. It is a vast building which is a real sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of life and the heat of summer.
I am slightly biased I must admit - we got married there (at the high altar) in 1988 and I always try to visit each time we return!

Aw inspiring. This church is a fraction of the size of the Vatican and still tremendous and beautiful art. Every time I visit it is a supernatural and moving experience. Thankful that I am able to experience with my family. Women need to cover their shoulders with a shawl or other similar covering. We eat gelato nearby at En Vivo, visit the Pompeii ruins and can park at any of the convenient lots, for me usually by the children’s amusement rides, there is a lot with a self pay kiosk option when leaving. McDonald’s here as well.

Majestic, with wonderful frescoes. Magical place where, fortunately, we also witnessed a wedding. Place where you breathe spirituality and joy. Little advice, I bought a wonderful crown, and then I went to church to ask for its blessing. If you want to ask your mother for protection and blessing, this is the right place 💖

After visiting the famous ruins we walked the short distance into the town. This richly decorated church is not as old as you may assume, it was started at the end of the 19th century and finished in 1901. The tower between 1912 and 1925 and has a lift which for 2 euros you can visit and see the views over the town, Vesuvius and the sea.

This basiica and tower are main things to see whike in Pompei. Pompeii is not just about ruins but this place is part if the history and spiritual experience in Pompei. There is a museum in the basilica which has furniture from Bartolo Longo who was the founder of this place and was beautified by the Catholic Church. They say that miracles have happen here in front of a painting of Mary the Virgin. The basilica is didicated to Mary the Virgin and the Rosary. The mass here is an experience and the singing sounds like angels. I highly recommend you go up to the tower to see the beautiful views of Pompei Mt Vesuvius and Naples. What an awesome beautiful view. There are dedications in the hallways to The Rosary Mary for miracles that people claim happen to them or family members it’s overwhelming and emotional experience. There was also a orphanage here and many photos of children who once lived on the grounds here. The eyes of the children will bring you to tears you can see their pain. Its very much a historic heart throbbing experience here. I recommend you go to a mass here to experience the services. You can get tickets to the tower inside the gift shop which is the door behind the tower walk straight to the right. You will see religious items being sold by the nuns of the basilica.

Grazie mille
Written August 4, 2018

grazie mille a chi potrà rispondermi.

Hello I have been to Naples on many occations on Cruises i have a strong faith and have read about this shrine,, is it easy to get to I have been to Pompeii by train,, I would be gratefull of your advice as i'm heading to Naples again in 2 weeks
Written September 26, 2015
You can take the Circumvesuviana to Pompei Scavi and then either walk 20 minutes into town or you take a taxi from the Circumvesuviana into Pompei town. I think the fare is about 10 Euro but check with the driver before getting in the cab.
There is a local bus that leaves at the bottom of the hill from the station, but you may need to buy a ticket in advance from a shop nearby.
The alternative is the train from Naples railway station to Salerno, which stops at the Pompei town station which is a 2 minute walk to the sanctuary.
This summer the trains were running every 30 minutes. Just make sure the train stops in Pompei.
The sanctuary is well worth a visit and if you want to stay overnight there is a pilgrims hostel right across the square from the church.

Does the church allow destination weddings for Catholics?
Written January 13, 2015
Suggestion: contact the church directly? The info is on their web site. I would not hesitate to write in English - many people in the area are very fluent.
