Visited Pompeii for the first time last month and was very impressed. We had allowed 3 hours to wander around but in fact could have spent another couple of hours. fantastic history.

2nd time there in 10 years - travelled the world -Pompei is amazing - but never seen anything as badly organised as way tours dominate access. Impossible to visit on your own and even with a private guide. Tour guides seem by bribery or whatever...More

I think that you would be much better going by train since a taxi would be very expensive
