Vito was very kind and very competent. He is a truly local guide, since he was born and raised in Matera. He knows the Sassi of Matera, the history and the traditions of Matera like the back of his hand. His family lived in the Sassi and today he talks about his hometown with great passion and knowledge. In a couple of hours he introduced us to hidden treasures of this wonderful city. Strongly reccomended.

One of the best ways to experience the history and beautiful architecture of Matera. The B&B where we were staying recommended us to write to Vito for a tour around de Sassi and Civitas of Matera. We spent two wonderful hours with Vito as our private guide, who appart from walking us through all the main streets and lovely piazzas around the historical centre of Matera (and giving us some cool tips on how to continue our journey and telling us fun anecdotes on the movies filmed in Matera), showed us another face of the city and its particular and hard but amazing history. The way he talks about Matera and takes you to areas where no other tourist group usually ventures, shows how passionate he is about the city where he grew up. And that passion and local knowledge is what I value the most whenever I visit a foreign city. Moreover, since we’re from Barcelona and he’s in love with our city, we also had a wonderful conversation about it, and he talked a bit of Spanish and Catalan with us (🥰). All in all, If you want to understand how the city works and why has the city changed so much during the last few years at the same time it has kept its ancient wonders, don’t hesitate: just call Vito and take the tour with him. You won’t regret it!

We spent a very rewarding 3-4 hours with Vito in late December when we visited Matera. He was a terrific tour guide; youthful, energetic (don't be fooled by his youth...he knows his stuff!) Vito speaks very fluent idiomatic English, has a valuable and informative itinerary for visiting both Sasso districts, and along the way gives a jam-packed commentary on the town, its history, culture, and its evolution. Vito also has great suggestions for what additional things to see that will make your visit even more rewarding and enjoyable. There's practically no question he can't answer. A perfect ambassador to give us an introduction to a priceless city. Very reasonable price for the tour. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful 3 hour tour of Matera with Vito in January 2022. It was a beautiful day (cold but sunny) and we could make the most of it. Vito is very thorough in explaining the history of Matera and he does it with passion - he knows the city very well, as he grew up there. We definitely recommend the tour with him. Thank you, Vito!

I love Italy in general, I've visited many Italian cities but... Matera is the most beautiful one. This place is extremely charming not only because of its unbelievable history, but also thanks to its inhabitants, who are a treasury of local stories. Such people include our guide Vito, who was the best that could happen to us. It is a great privilege to visit the city with someone who has so big knowledge and can pass it on to you with great passion and perfect English:) Absolutely worth it.

Vito took us on a hike down and up (and up and down and up and then more up) the ravine at Matera. It was a beautiful walk and we saw an abundance of wild flowers. Vito was hugely knowledgable on the history and fauna of the region and really brought the trail to life. We wouldn’t have been anywhere near as adventurous if we’d been on our own - it was great to be with someone very familiar with the paths and we would easily have made some costly rookie errors if we were in our own. Our walk lasted three hours - we’d definitely recommend using Vito if you are in Matera and want to understand more about this beautiful town.

Our guide was Vito Rondinone. He met us in Piazzetta Pascoli. After kindly giving us time for a coffee, he began the tour by giving us an overview of the city and its incredible history. Then we began our walk which at every corner was enriched with details told by Vito. After a few minutes you realize you are in a unique place and so different from the many beautiful Italian cities. This is why it is essential to experience this magical place with an expert guide. The visit to the cave house was in some ways shocking as it puts you in front of the whole raw reality of the life of the peasants of the Sassi.
What a wonderful tour guide and we will definitely recommend him to all our friends.

Vito was an excellent guide, in fact he is the perfect guide for this place.
Not only is he well read and enthusiastic about Matera but he also has the advantage of growing up in Matera and enjoying the the old town first hand as a child. His english is perfect and easy to understand which makes it simple to communicate with him. We recommend him hands down and give him a perfect score of 10!!! Thank you again Vito.

I've heard a lot about Matera and although usually I read and prepare to the trip by myself this time I decided to book private tour. I knew this town is just pure history and I will be not able to explore it without some suggestions. I am so happy with my decision. The guide was very well prepared, telling us the stories in very interesting way with so many curiosities (some o them I remember until today!). He can say so many about ancient times as well as life in Matera nowadays. We appreciate also this particular sense of humor and Italian accent while speaking English :) Totally worth it, score for this tour guide!

Dziekuje Aleksandra! Our two countries have so much in common, and the history of Matera during the second world war is strongly connected with Poland. Also for this reason is always a pleasure to have polish guests!

Visiting Matera with Vito was a delight. He knows the city perfectly and showcases the best parts of it. He didn't only point out the historical aspects but he also introduced us to the culture and the culinary specialities of the region. He is a passionate and easy-going guide, with a very good level of English and a good sense of humor. He is also a great professional and always on time, we were very relaxed thanks to its accompanying. I already was a big fan of Italy before visiting Matera and now I must say that I am in love with this beautiful country !
