We were returning to our ship off the beaten track in order to avoid the busy crowds. How lucky we were to come across this superb park where we really relaxed and enjoyed ourselves. Seek it out for a bit of peace.

An easy walk from Main Street. It has a lovely little pond with some big carp and as we were there after the schools came out it was nice to watch the children playing together in the water fountains.

A lovely, peaceful oasis in a bustling busy city. A lovely place to relax and unwind. Beautifully kept and obviously respected by the locals. Not a scrap of litter to be seen anywhere. Even has a lift down from the top road.

Great park for young families - two ponds with plenty of fish and some terrapins , plenty of bench seating, great water fountain for the kids to play with. Lovely relaxing quiet environment just off a busy and noisy Main Street and Queensway

This is such a relaxed and well-kept park, which is lovely by day and also lovely by night. It's safe, well laid-out and makes you want to linger.

I was supised how much money was allocated to building these gardens but entirely understood the value once they were completed. My wife and I make detours just to ensure we walk through them whether in the day or at night. Although we tend not...More

Good seating and lots of grass space so lots of local families use it which is always a good sign. right next to the Leisure Centre as well for fun bowling and other gym type pursuits.

Alameda Gardens up the hill are much prettier. Commonwealth Park was pretty but bleak, not a very comfortable place to sit a while. Seems like a waste of some amazing historic space.
