Pure escapism!
Oct 2019
A beautiful, clean and uncommercialised resort.
Dominated with whitewashed villas (no high-rise hotels). A lovely sandy beach at Binibeca Nou with crystal clear waters. A wonderful find was the Bambu restaurant where you can watch the sunset over a glass of wine/meal.
There is also a cluster of friendly bars/restauarants in the centre of Binibeca Vell.
A truly lovely resort away from the madding crowd.

Magical place so beautiful
May 2019
The rambling little streets of the old town are just like being in a fairy tale a must to go and see. The area is kept extremely neat and tidy its a photographers playground with so much to capture.

Lovely village
Sep 2019
This old fishing village is beautiful and well worth a visit. A tour around the houses doesn’t take too long but there are a few restaurants nearby where you can have a meal or a drink. Don’t expect to spend all day there. An hour or two should suffice

White labyrinth
Oct 2019 • Family
It’s a must visit. A small white village build to look like traditional fishing village for touristic attraction. It’s very beautiful with narrow streets and every corner has different construction and formation.

Unusual place to see, and worth a visit with great restaurants.

We visited Binibeca Vell as a 6 strong family of all age groups and were delighted to see the narrow and unusual, white alleyways that lead you through to the harbour from the shops and restaurants.

Curious "Fishing Village"
Jun 2019 • Couples
This is the old style fishing village, not real, but created in 1972 by a spanish architect . It was very beautiful. Like a labyrinth of white cottages. It is also possible to rent an apartment. There are some beautiful, very clean beaches. Also some restaurants and grocery shop. Binibeca Vell is one of the most interesting places in Menorca. Easy to reach by bus (30 min.) from Mahón.

'Peak' Sweet in Menorca
May 2019 • Solo
Easy bus trip from Mahon.
2 hours is really enough time here so afterwards had lunch outside the whitewashed tourist 'hub' and strolled round the luxurious villas before return.
The architects who designed this'fishing village' in the late 60s and 70s were certainly onto a winner. Certainly pretty but as I strolled through the sugar cube corridors, the signage for silence made me wonder why it wasn't built as a gated community in the first place.
Of course not. It's the ideal place for holiday lets and to bring in 'tour groups' and individual tourists like me. Nothing wrong with that as it's necessary for the economy but honestly it was all a bit too artificially sweet for my taste.
Alternatives ? A morning visit to Es Mercadal in the centre of the island or to Fornells, also touristy but not quite so 'sweet'

Pretty

To review this place I find difficult, behind the little village is lovely. The coast side is full of flowers and little pathways along the rocky shore are a delight. There are plenty of butterflies and seabirds and the little gates to the properties at the back ( similar to all over the island) give the area a nice atmosphere.
The village though puts me in a quandary. Its nice to see all the white tiny alleyways (everything is so pristine) but to me feels a bit unnatural, built like that just to appeal to tourists.
I understand it is built to reflect a fishing village but somehow its too nice if you can understand.
Probably worth a visit if you have bags of time, or are in the area and just go out of curiosity. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit.
