One of the wonders of Erfurt. Nice and cute shops when you're walking on the bridge - you won't actually notice you're walking on one. And the magic comes when you step outside and see that it's actually a bridge made of houses. Best viewed...More

Great stop for lovers of architecture! Oldest medieval merchant bridge in Germany. Lovely town with great history everywhere!

Amazingly well preserved piece of medieval architecture and history still serving its function of a trading place with many tiny shops and cafes. Nice view from its outer side.

We were fortunate enough to visit Erfurt just before Christmas. This place, same like the rest of the town, is a lovely way to explore what's the best of Thuringia. A place worth visiting!

You only realize it's a brigde seeing it from aside, while walking trough it, seems like another commercial street. I loved the city, and the Altstadt is very beautiful and charming.

A bridge lined with little shops mainly selling arty crafty things. The chocolate shop is particularly well-known.

The Krämerbrücke (Merchant's Bridge) is Erfurt's Ponte Vecchio I've seen both and, quite frankly, I find the Krämerbrücke more interesting, but then, I prefer Germany to Italy. The bridge is pedestrian only and is lined with Medieval shops offering the best shopping in Erfurt.

Walking on it, with tall buildings on both sides, one would never guess that it is built on a bridge. It has to be seen froma distnce to appreciate the construction. Quite extraordinary!

Must see. Great photo opportunities. Unusual homes above the bridge. Be sure to go on both sides of the bridge. Very old and different. Reason enough to visit Erfurt. Well preserved and not damaged in the War apparently.

From memory, most of the shops keep fairly normal "small business" times ... closing around 17:30-18:00. Again, I think there's only one café/restaurant on the bridge, which I don't think is open in the evening. However... More
