Some locals told me that if I touch the mouse at the corner of the wall 'art' I will find myself returning to this city again at some point. I think the church itself is full of characters. Would definitely recommend to visit if you...More

From the outside, St. Mary’s church is quite impressive and monumental. The same is true for what we have seen of the inside. But we didn’t enter properly, as they charge an entry fee. I don’t mind giving a voluntary donation at a church, which...More

The church took a 100 years to complete and at the time of construction 1250-1350 was the tallest brick building. There was plenty to engage interest such as bronze baptismal font made by Hans Apengeter 1337, the Darsow Madonna from 1420 and the Antwerp Altarpiece. We had...More

Marienkirche was built under the influence of French cathedral architecture. Beautiful brick-built Gothic church.

This church is beautiful from outside and inside. You could imagine this town during the hanseatic period just by visiting this place. Great place for reflection. Highly recommended.

This is the largest brick gothic church in the world. One needs to sit quietly and absorb the ambience. Since so many of its treasures were lost when the city was bombed in 1942 it is a miracle that it could be restored. We always...More

We loved our visit to this incredible cathedral Hard to put into words how beautiful it is, truly worth a mere 2 euros to support its upkeep and maintain this historic gem Check out the stained glass windows, really unusual, even skeleton playing guitar in...More

Very nice church - restored after ww2 damages - but it used to be heated! And free to go in. Now they charge 2 euros and the heat is off. Its bloody cold and uncomfortable.. Wrong move dear bishop... 🤥

It is not easy to build such a high building out of bricks. But they did it with the Marienkirche in Lübeck. The church is so high, that the voices of the people are barely heard, even if 2000 of them are singing. In the...More

Yes, I believe there is but we spent our time in Lubeck walking. Look up the telephone number of the Tourist Office and give them a call. They are helpful. Whitebeard83

Sorry, I have just visited the building. Have you tried the Tourist Office or approached the church itself?
