The Georgentor or the Georgenbau is located in front of the “Santissimae Trinitatis” Cathedral coming from the “Schlossplatz towards the “Zwinger” you also will passing by to the “Thinking mold "Friedrich August dem Dishes". The “Georgentor”. It is located in the inner old town on the Schloßplatz between the Residenzschloss and the Stallhof.. The building impresses today with its representative facade in the monumental Neo-Renaissance style.

Dresden has been a terrific city.
A friend told me about the beauty of the city but, I really didn't know the reality, it's fantastic!
I just visited 3 cities but, Dresden was my favorite due to the amazing architecture.

One of the nice buildings to see at Schloßplatz is the Neo-Renaissance style Georgenbau, which forms an entrance into the city centre after crossing

The building forms part of the Royal Palace, serving as an entrance into the city after crossing the Elbe River and walking through Schloßplatz. Today you walk through the three arched entrances of Georgenbau and enjoy the figures and other decorative carvings which enrich the three entrances.

The facade of this building is quite attractive as well, featuring a step gable adorned with statues and ornamentation. Originally built in the 1530s and was the cities first Renaissance style building. Rebuilt multiple times including after being destroyed by fire in 1710 as well as the Dresden Bombings in 1945, the building today was constructed in 1960s in the beautiful appearance you see today.

Overall, it is an attractive building worth spending a few minutes to enjoy and photograph if you are a fan of architecture and historical buildings. You can then walk through its open entrance as if you were entering the old castle during centuries past and make your way to the Royal Palace and the the famous Green Vault attractions.

Georgenbau, the main section of the Royal Palace sitting on top of the old city gates began reconstruction in the 80s and the entire palace was only completed a decade ago. The Haussman Tower behind it is a complete reconstruction of the original.  Georgenbau has been rebuilt to become the guardian of Dresden’s treasures, with its 5 museums within its complex.
Of course, what people are attracted to most is the Georgentor, the city gates that Georgenbau sits on top of. A pretty arch that’s one of the most important entry into the city of Dresden.

Toward the back of the Schlossplatz, stands this first Renaissance building of the city. A devastating fire ravaged the Palace in 1701 and Augustus the Strong had the exterior reconstructed in the taste at the time. The portal was again destroyed in WW II and rebuilt in the 1960's. The gable is adorned with rich, sculptural ornaments and the portal facing the Elbe River, dating from the Georgian period, represent Adam and Eve mourning Paradise.

The Geogentor or Georgenbau is the Dresden Old City exit to the bridge on River Elbe. It is located on Scholassplatz between the royal palace and the royal stables. It is a Neo Renaissance building built in 1530-1535 during George the bearded's time. On the face of the building you can see an inscription "Providentiae Memor" which means keep Providence in Mind. This was the national slogan of Saxony and part of the Wettiners coat of arms. You can see amazing gargoyles on this beautiful passageway. You can also see some religious themes in this building. On the inner-side you can read the words "Per invidiam Diaboli Mors Intravit In Orbs" meaning through the devil's envy death entered into the world. This gateway way destroyed by the Allied air-raids during WWII and was rebuilt in the 1960's.
