A friend recommended that I go here even though it’s somewhat ranked low on TripAdvisor. Thank goodness I did because it was worth it. “Fun” collection with a great audio guide. Would recommend over many of the higher rated museums in town.

The Albertium has risen from the destruction wrought by the floods of 2002. It contains the Galerie Neue Meistersinger and a small sculpture Hall. The period covered is from the 19th to 21st century. There is a good collection of Caspar David Friedrich which commences...More

We visited the museum on a cold January day and spent a great afternoon inside. The building itself is very modern and spacious, but still cosy. We travelled to Dresden to see an exposition “Art from the Romantic period to the present day”. We found it...More

I was not impressed with the current modern artists, it is a personal taste, but I loved the large room of Caspar Friedrich David which was a top treat. Time was short so I had to rush but well worth checking what is showing. Short...More

Was at the Albertinum for the Carl Lohse (Expressionist) exhibition. Absolutely brilliant! Carl Lohse is one of the forgotten artists, where you will feel sorry, that you have not seen the exhibits. Outstanding pictures, vibrant colors, fantastic sculptures! Glad that I was there! It was...More

Most tourists are advised to see the more prominent museum in the city, the Gemaldegalerie Alte Meister, so the Albertinum wasn't crowded at all. But this museum has its own superb collection, and really mustn't be overlooked. As you enter the museum, you see the...More

I thought it was a bit odd, with 'New Masters' from 1800 or so. Last time I checked, that's not that new :D Anyhow, a very well assembled chronicle from that era to German Expressionism, and beyond. There are 3 or 4 galleries in here,...More

Many German Romantic paintings, then a respectable range of European paintings from late 19th century to the 1920s (and some Canalettos of Venice). And of course some evocative representations of Dresden itself. But the permanent collection itself does not seem that contemporary. We enjoyed the...More

This is the Dresden Museum to see contemporary works but they had too few and generally not good examples by the artist. Thy have only a few older works that are gems.

My wife and I visit great galleries all over the world, and we were very impressed by this wonderful collection. In particular, the German Romantics we knew very little about- like Casper David Friedrich- were a real find. Lots of iconic French and European 19th...More
