Named the Albertinum to honor Saxony's King Albert who converted this 16th century building into a museum between 1884-1887, this collection displays art from the Romantic period to the present day. While the Albertinum suffered less damage during WWII, flooding of the Elbe River in...More

The gallery collection is huge (didn't expect that), reserve at least 3 hours and ask for a voice-guide (they have in in different languages, it's included in the ticket and definitely worth trying). The gallery is not crowded as the Old Masters gallery in Zwinger,...More

This shows the evolution of modern art through a relatively small collection. The sculpture gallery is most interesting as are the rooms displaying some of their stored art including Hittite pieces.

Because we had spent so much time at the Residenzschloss museum, we only had an hour to visit the Albertinum. The staff were wonderful in pointing out where we could find our area of interest, the museum’s fantastic collection of German Expressionist painters. If you...More

Don't miss this MFA, an equal to Washington, New York and Boston, art through the ages for sure. One interesting fact they have rooms where you can admire art in display cases that is presently not on display unlike in the USA where it is...More

A friend recommended that I go here even though it’s somewhat ranked low on TripAdvisor. Thank goodness I did because it was worth it. “Fun” collection with a great audio guide. Would recommend over many of the higher rated museums in town.

The Albertium has risen from the destruction wrought by the floods of 2002. It contains the Galerie Neue Meistersinger and a small sculpture Hall. The period covered is from the 19th to 21st century. There is a good collection of Caspar David Friedrich which commences...More

We visited the museum on a cold January day and spent a great afternoon inside. The building itself is very modern and spacious, but still cosy. We travelled to Dresden to see an exposition “Art from the Romantic period to the present day”. We found it...More
