If you like old buildings I suggest to stroll to the Basilika St. Johann, the Friedenskirche and the Schloss (close to the Saar river), you have to cross the Saar, then back to the Altes Rathaus. It's a walk trough picturesque corners. Don't forget to...More

Some of the sausage sellers are more than unfriendly..especially the #schwamm# sausage ones...the potato cake is enourmous especially with salmon and horsereddich...all the rest is average...i think the old town in summer is pretty much ok with all the pubs and cafes

'Zum Stiefel", wonderful saarlandish restaurant. I ordered a Saarbrücker Schweinefilet, wonderful. The service comme il faut. I like this place, and I eat here at least once each time I am in Saarbrücken.

Although there are a lot of interesting historical buildings in the Saarbrucken old town it makes an impression of young modern city. It is full of life and its fresh and joyful atmosphere makes time flying fast.

A pleasant old town from a rather small city. A few churches for the decor, a market place, many shops and restaurants and a couple of pedestrian streets. A basic receipt and the result is quite convincing : you can stroll in the area for...More

We have visited Saarbrucken several times as part of a Rotary Club as we are twinned with one of the Saarbrucken Rotary Clubs. The old town is very pleasant with a nice square with plenty of cafes and places to eat either inside or outside.
