For starters, Trier itself is a lovely place to visit, especially if you arrive by boat on the Mosel River. The Hauptmarkt is best when visited on a Saturday morning. The area is encircled by interesting shops and restaurants and there are numerous places to...More

A square full of character with lovely buildings overlooked by a colourful church tower and a narrow street just tempting you with a snapshot of the cathedral.

Typical german square with lots of old houses - although most are re-built after WW2. Wines sellers and music entertainment.

It is indeed the heart of the city, especially on a celebration day. Music, wine, party and fun...it is all there, in this big plazza. White Alsacian wine is in honour...

We arrived around 330-4p and everyone was packing up. A few vegetable vendors were there but I am sure it's pretty neat to shop around the fountain. It's a beautiful square with plenty of shopping and site seeing opportunities.

Nice old square in the heart of the Altstadt. When we where there, there was a wine bar in the middle of it. Man at the souvenir stall was very friendly.

Even though most of the buildings have been rebuilt since WWII, the square is quite delightful. The small open air market had great white asparagus.

The Hauptmarkt is an interesting place to stroll and check out the fresh fruits and vegetables, the cafes, and the people. There is even a small freestanding booth where one can sip some local wines.

A busy market as you will find them most places. The setting here is just beautiful between all the lovely houses. Also check out the wine stall. It switches all the time between local producers. So you can also get a bit cultural with the...More
