As of June 2017 this site is under a serious renovation. You can visit anyway, but there is scaffolding all over the place. They are cleaning all the paintings and sculpture. The finished portions are beautiful and when they finish it will be outstanding.

Curious church. Although not only the church itself. In fact, the church has a cemetery. So, it draws your attention with its remarkabe sculptural group "The Crucifixion". Another interesting detail is facade of red sandstone, which specifically combines the pillars of all three main orders....More

This is one of the many churches in here around the city center. The design and colour is attractive. You can see this on your city walking tour.

The church has a majestic red color façade with a very nice arch like door. From inside it is also impressive. The red colour of the church is a reminder of the Marktkirche in the nearby Wiesbaden. It is easy to get to if you...More

This church is not as famousas the cathedral or several ofthe other large churches, yet it is also worth visiting for its impressive red sandstone exterior and baroque interior. The latter is more restrained than in some other churches in Mainz.

Has a sandstone façade and is worthwhile to have a look at but maybe not as nice as some others in the area. Has some fine ceiling paintings so make sure you have a look. Make sure you check out the organ. Next to the...More

Whereas St Augustine and St Peter churches are fanciful and colourful, the interior of St Ignaz is more sober and staid - oh and darker!
