Lots of restaurants and bars catering to tourists, but I guess that is to be expected. The cobblestone streets and alleys are nice though

while you are in Köln, a walk through the historic old town is a must. During high season there are tons of people but one can enjoy the walk anyway.

Meeting place for tours is at Tourist Information Centre infront of Cathedral. If your hotel is in city centre the cathedral is reachable on foot.
