Just a bridge? Nothing amazing? If you feel that way about bridges you are correct. But it is a very impressive bridge with great views of the river and the cathedral. So I can really recommend a walk across it if you are in Köln.

This bridge is both a great thoroughfare across the famous Rhine River and a lovely sightseeing walk. The trains can be noisy and during the weekend afternoons it is very busy, but the setting is worth experiencing.

Of course, there are statues of 4 German emperors at the corners of the bridge at 2 sides of the river, hence the name "Hohenzollern". A bridge is always attractive because of the fact it makes the link between separated parts of land, but this...More

Visited Cologne and seeing all the locks of love ❤️ was amazing! So much so that I had to put on a lock and throw the key in the Rhine.

We love being a part of history.....love locks for miles..... You can have a lock made with your name or by a simple one on the docks. More importantly, this bridge is located on the Rhine River and is an important marker in history during...More

We walked across the Hohenzollernbrücke Bridge over the Rhine River in Cologne, Germany in 2013. We actually filmed it. The love locks go the entire distance of the bridge, seemingly "forever" on a replay of the video many years later...! And of course, there is...More

This bridge was super crowded with pedestrians, bike riders and people pushing strollers. It was a holiday weekend, so that may explain why it was so crowded. It was interesting to see all of the "love locks" attached to the bridge.

With the entire length of the fence along the footpath across this train bridge covered in locks, you might wonder what the big deal is? The locks along the bridge are supposed to be love locks. You and a loved one lock a lock to...More

We took a steady walk over the bridge to say we had seen it. It is quite impressive how many locks there are and the principle is great.

One of the two reasons I came to Cologne ! The Dom and the bridge ! Was chasing the perfect picture 🙃! Much like the professional pictures I have seen of the bridge , I was just looking for that perfect night shot. I found...More

We went to a little shop down a side street as you go down to the river walk off one of the squares. The padlock and engraving was 9 euros!! Dont go to the shops right near the cathedral they are very expensive look around!

Hello Holly, I would also recommend bringing your own. Just make sure that it is fairly sturdy. There are so many locks already attached, that flimsy ones are apt to be smashed and lost. People are now resorting to... More
