Great Roman church and well worth visiting while staying in Hildesheim! The church itself is not very spectacular but the bronze door (1000 years old) and round chandeliers (800 years old) make this place unique. Strongly recommend to book the guided Tour in German which...More

Interesting place to visit but lacked an overwhelming sense of history (partly due the rebuild after the WWII destruction). Enjoyable but not earth shattering

A magnificent 12th C building that had been extensively restored. After looking at amazing candelabra and crypt do walk the garden and cloisters.

This church has a crypt and all the connecting buildings and the gardens make this a very big complex and at no cost is just lovely to walk around.

Mariendom had been destroyed during the last months of world war II, so there was heavy renovation necessary. The iron cast entry doors (you need to enter the cathedral to se them), the baptistery and the chandeliers are impressive. Certainly worthwhile to visit.

The very old church was restored using modern techniques and now looks like a place to play volleyball. They have destroyed history.

The cathedral owns extraordinary treasures from around the first millenium - bronze doors made by the lost wax method, a huge Ottonian candelabra representing Paradise, and a metal column inspired by Trajan's column in Rome but showing the life of Christ. These wonderful items are...More

Nice church to find parts of history, love the expo of special pieces and enjoy the history behind them. Nice educated watchers and people who work there. No regrets, place to go and enjoy.
