This place is extraordinary. I don't know what I had expected but the museum was so enlightening and objective in describing death in different cultures. I have learned a lot and will definitely go again next time I am in Kassel.

The Museum fuel Sepulkralkultur -- i.e. sepucral culture, or things related to ceremonies, objects and art for burial -- was fascinating. I wandered in, as part of the Documenta exhibitions distributed around the city, but also had a chance to visit their collection and exhibition...More

it was a modest price and it killed an hour or so, excuse the pun. This museum I expected to be all grim and morbid a type of London dungeons, instead it was an informative look into death and everything it has to offer, from...More

Who posted the address of this museum as being on Gartenstrasse? That's at the other end of town. Completely wrong. This museum is right next door to the Grimmwelt museum. Lots of interesting artifacts from various time periods and other cultures showing how death is...More

It is not for everyone. It is basically a museum about death. How other cultures deal with it. There were grave markers, different styles of vehicles associated with funerals. Dress and trinkets that go along with death. It was definitely interesting. They only have a...More

I was visiting in town and happened to be at the museum next door. So, I thought why not give this place a try. I have to say it was not that interesting. Seems like it is only the beginning of a museum. If one...More

We visited this museum and were charged only half price as the nice receptionist warned us that no exhibits were in English. We did enjoy the exhibits but really would have loved reading more information. Of course we still were able to figure out many...More

It is not weird, it is not thrilling but it is interesting. The theme is death/grave culture and there are some nice objects. In the shop are nice postcards about death also cartoons.
