Destroyed by Allied bombing in 1944, Frankfurt's beautifully reconstructed opera house was reopened in 1981. It's now a major venue for concerts and operas.

Loved it here. We sat outside although it was very hot! The choice was good and the food amazing. Huge portions as always when in Germany! Love the butter portions, little rolls of wrapped butter with salt.

The opera house is a really pretty building, but not much more than that. If you are nearby it is worth having a look at, otherwise I wouldn't go out of your way to go and see it.

The outside of the Opera House is beautiful. There is also a nice fountain outside the front. I really enjoyed the quick walk from the subway station to see this attraction.

The prettiest building of the city, and a nice fountain plaza in front of it. Restaurants line one side, a lesser park the other, and a busy street the third.

It was amazing time I have spent with my Friend in Frankfurt in such fantastic and old place like the old Opera building.

For decades after the war this was just a pile of rubble; now it is a gorgeous building both inside and out. Worth stopping to take a look.

One of Frankfort's most beautiful and fascinating places with a beautiful writing above it . I did not visit inside, but the environment was really great.

The Old Opera House dominates a large pedestrian plaza called (appropriately) Opernplatz. The neoclassical facade features massive arches, columns surmounted by a freize, and a pediment topped by a winged horse. A large fountain in front leads the eye from the green trees lining Taunusanlage...More

A wonderful architecture among the surrounding high rises in Frankfurt. We were told the structure was nearly destroyed and was rebuilt to its previous grandiose. There are a few eateries within the vicinity if you want some refreshments during your visit. A must visit if...More

I saw this building while on a hop on off bus tour. Thankfully, we had to stop for a stop light, right here. When i turned and saw the building, i hurried and reached for my camera. Such a beautiful and grand building. I wish...More

Hi John I see others have answered. I thought I saw some publicity about it while I was in Frankfurt. Sounds like it will be a wonderful few days. Have fun and safe travels.

Loraine, which concert are you going to? At least there is a "Abendkasse" which opens 1 hour before each concert where you can purchase last minute tickets. Should be possible to deposit already paid tickets there as well... More

Hi! If the concert is inside the opera, then I would definitely recommend wearing something chic. Not necessarily a tie, but a shirt and blazer will do! Hope I could help. Have fun at the concert!
