Having studied Goethe at School it was amazing to wander through his house to see where he wrote and to learn more firsthand about his family. The furnishings and paintings take you back in time.

It isn't a big place, but the history was nice. Staff was very short and not at all helpful. It was cold when I was visiting, but the house was extremly hot. Be careful going in the summer.

I thought I was going to be bored looking at a 'house', but it couldn't have been further from the truth! Go to Goethe's house, it is so revealing; and at the end of your exploration of the house there is a nice little twist.

You can see how people live during the period of Goethe and admire the house where he was born and raised. The furniture is interesting and those who are interested in german litereature will find a lot to learn from the visit.

If you are interested to get an idea of the period and the artifacts, you can visit and the lack of information in your native language will not be a major barrier
